ABC Cookie Cutters

Not what you'd expect.

I definitely like the gingerbread set, it's officially on my wish list.

Available from Perpetual Kid, a cool site that stocks a lot of Archie McPhee stuff.

Grows 5 Times Faster Than Dirt

What? Dirt grows?

Yes, the brilliant copywriters over at AeroGarden would like you to be confused and intrigued by both their product and their use of the language. It's all part of the magic, baby. The AeroGarden magic...

The AeroGarden, now that I have your attention, is a cross between the Hanging Gardens of Babylon and a George Foreman grill. The brochure, which I picked up from the demo-station at Sur la Table, has a whole diagram area which uses phrases like "Plug 'n Grow Bio-Dome Seed Pods," and "Aeroponic Optimizing Chamber" and "Computerized Smart Garden Technology." You just stick the Bio-Dome seed pods on the teflon top, plug it in, set the Add-Nutrient delivery system to reset, and go go go! Or should I say, grow grow grow! The "AeroPonic technology creates a near-perfect rainforest growing enviroment!" Just the sort of technical mumbo jumbo I want to not think about while harvesting organic cherry tomatoes to have the nanny feed to my kids.

Actually, the AeroGarden is a pretty interesting idea and it might be fun to try if we ever wanna pitch in the $150. It seems like the perfect product for the kinds of people who shop at Sur la Table. Only the former college hippie turned wealthy breeding yuppie can truly appreciate harnessing the best in pot-growing hydroponic technology to create an Easy-Bake garden which will allow you to have fresh herbs at dinner but never get your hands dirty with, you know. Dirt.

Off the Cuff

These watch movement cufflinks from Red Envelope are sooo cool... I might just want them so I can make my handy pal Jana redo them into something useful, like earrings. Or maybe I'll start wearing cuffed shirts. But they just look really cool.
